Short Term Rentals
Do you own or operate a Short Term Rental property in the Borough of Lewistown? These resources will help you remain compliant with borough ordinances and requirements to operate your short term rental appropriately.
What is a short term rental? A short term rental property is defined as an operation of a rooming house, boardinghouse, hotel, motel, bed-and-breakfast, online hospitality marketplace rental or a like (popular example: AirBNB).

The Gateway includes housing-related services and resources from the borough & community agencies to help landlords manage rental properties and tenants to stay current with rent.
Fair Market Rent Reference
- Each year, HUD (Office of Policy Development and Research) conducts a study to determine fair rents. Fair Market Rents (FMRs) are used to determine payment standard amounts for the Housing Choice Voucher program, initial renewal rents for some expiring project-based Section 8 contracts, initial rents for housing assistance payment (HAP) contracts in the Moderate Rehabilitation Single Room Occupancy program (Mod Rehab), rent ceilings for rental units in both the HOME Investment Partnership program and the Emergency Solutions Grants program, maximum award amounts for Continuum of Care recipients and the maximum amount of rent a recipient may pay for property leased with Continuum of Care funds, and flat rents in Public Housing units.
